Correspondence of Richard Bland Lee (1761-1827) of Fairfax County, Va., and of his wife, Elizabeth (Collins) Lee (1768?-1858) of Fairfax County, Va., and Washington, D.C., accounts for more than half of this collection. Richard's correspondence, 1805-1870, chiefly concerns the estate of Richard Lee (1726-1794). Elizabeth's correspondence, 1806-1858, is with women friends. The collection also contains a few papers pertaining to other family members.
